He strives to lower your stress level not only with his competent representation of you, but also with his compassionate approach to a highly emotional situation.

A Family Law Specialist

What sets Mark apart from many other California divorce attorneys is that he is a Certified Family Law Specialist, which means that he specializes in Family Law. Few lawyers have this distinction. For an attorney to hold this title means that he has met strict demands outlined by the California State Bar Association. It is proof that Mark has extensive experience in handling family law cases and that he has demonstrated success in this field of law.

Mark has more than 21 years of legal experience and he always works to obtain the best results for you in negotiations and/or in the courtroom. No matter how complex or contentious your divorce or child custody matter, he will handle it efficiently and economically.

Focused on You

Mark is passionate about his clients. When you partner with him, he will focus on how he can help you, not what you can do for him. He ensures that all of your questions are answered and that you are kept informed every step of the way. In fact, Mark’s goal is to eliminate your stress and provide you with the peace of mind in knowing you are in good hands.

Background and Experience

Mark obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University. He also attended Long Island University where he obtained his MBA. He later attended Whittier College School of Law and was admitted to practice in 1994. Prior to joining the law firm now known as Fernandez & Karney, Mark had a solo practice that focused on family law, criminal law and landlord/tenant matters.

On a Personal Note

Mark was very active as a basketball coach in Community Center leagues with boys and girls ages 9 to 16 years of age. Mark believes in listening to what children want when he handles a family law case and he is driven to discover and obtain what is in the best interests of the children involved. He is focused on making sure your children’s voices are heard, no matter how old they are. Mark treats everyone with respect in finding a solution that works for the entire family, whether it is co-parenting, parallel parenting or whatever arrangement reduces conflict and anxiety.
